Emergency Management

Funded by The Advancing Canadian Agriculture and Agri-Food (ACAAF) program of Agriculture and Agri-Food

This initiative is designed to help Canadian food animal industry organizations with emergency planning.

Current Status

The EMCOMM initiative is focussed on the following:

  • Establishing an Emergency Management (EM) network and forum
  • An annual benchmark survey of industry preparedness
  • An assessment of existing training against industry needs and delivery of training if required
  • Assessment of EM certification
  • Assisting the development of EM plans using the Coalition’s EM Template that was developed in a previous survey
  • Assisting industry with EM exercises and simulations
  • Hosting an annual EM conference

Going Forward

Long term – the goal of the EMCOMM initiative is to have industry emergency plans compatible with those of the CFIA and other industry organizations to facilitate cross-sectoral coordination support.

A cross sector emergency management exercise for the livestock and poultry industries.  Join Canada's livestock and poultry industries in this in office simulation.
